Even the wilderness and desert will rejoice in those days; the desert will blossom with flowers. Yes, there will be an abundance of flowers and singing and joy!
The Lord will display His glory there.
With this news bring cheer to all discouraged ones. Encourage those who are afraid. Tell them, “Be strong, fear not, for your God is coming to destroy your enemies. He is coming to save you.”
And a main road will go through that once-deserted land; it will be named “The Holy Highway.” No evil-hearted men may walk upon it.
God will walk there with you. There will not be any dangers; only the redeemed will travel there.
These, the ransomed of the Lord, will go home along that road to Zion, singing the songs of everlasting joy. For them all sorrow and all sighing will be gone forever; only joy and gladness will be there. Isiah 35
I know using the SOAP method we are supposed to choose one scripture from a chapter that really speaks to us, and dig deep into that scripture. But today’s chapter reading was full of goodness, that I ended up writing out pretty much the entire chapter!
I’m reminded of something my preacher said this past weekend – this world in its present state is not how it should be. There are natural disasters, illnesses, and fighting. Something is “off” and we have to live through the consequences of a fallen world.
But, one day, God will restore His earth to its beauty and everything will be as He wants it to be – full of joy and singing. Walking with God daily. Free of dangers or harm.
Springs will burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert. The parched ground will become a pool, with springs of water in the thirsty land. (Isaiah 35:6)
I must keep my eyes on what lies ahead. When my eyes get focused too much on the temporary things of this world, may my eyes drift upwards to what life will be like forever.
But there will come a time, you’ll see, with no more tears.
And love will not break your heart, but dismiss your fears.
Get over your hill and see what you find there,
With grace in your heart and flowers in your hair

Lord, may I tuck this hope in my heart: God is coming to save you; the desert will blossom with flowers; God will walk there with you. Keep my focus on the prize that is waiting for me, already planned and designed by You. Keep me strong and patient. ~ Amen
